According to the Washington Post, Vance "has met in recent months with Stephen K. Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist who has returned to his post running Breitbart News, and Bannon has privately expressed a desire to see an ally installed at Heritage."

Vance’s New York Times best-selling book is a memoir about his upbringing in Middletown.

The Heritage Foundation’s shortlist for a leader includes Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts and senior White House official Marc Short, according to the Washington Post citing three people familiar with the discussions.

Heritage’s board of trustees also have interest in American Legislative Exchange Council CEO Lisa Nelson and David Trulio, a vice president at Lockheed Martin, according to the news outlet.
