No bomb was found at a Springfield apartment complex on Monday after the Dayton Bomb Squad was called to dispose of a possible explosive device.

Officers were at the Ronez Manor Apartments in the 1900 block of Wilkes Drive on Monday afternoon on an unrelated call when people at the apartment said they found and showed officers what appeared to be a bomb, according to Springfield Police Lt. Jeff Williams.

The Dayton Bomb Squad responded to the apartment complex to dispose of a possible pipe bomb, Williams said. The squad took the possible bomb to an open field and disabled it.

No bomb was found and there was no threat to the community.

Williams said there are no charges at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
