The store is part of a larger picture, with Walmart planning to add more than 1,000 VW Electrify America charging ports at several hundred stores across 36 states, said Walmart spokesman Micah Ragland.
“Along with providing our customers with an enhanced shopping experience through added convenience, this initiative also allows us to contribute to the expansion of our nation’s EV charging station infrastructure,” Ragland said. “Many of our Walmart associates and customers are EV drivers so providing access to these stations is the right thing to do for our customers, our business and the environment.”

Each unit will charge cars between 10 and 30 minutes, giving customers direction through a 15-inch touchscreen at each charger. They can provide their phone number or view the screen for updates on their car’s charging progress, Ragland said.
Other Ohio locations under consideration for the charging ports are Cambridge, Columbus and Mansfield.
