2-year-old beluga whale dies at SeaWorld San Antonio


Stella, a female beluga whale, died Friday at SeaWorld San Antonio.

The cause of death is still unknown. However, she was being treated by staff veterinarians for gastrointestinal issues, according to officials at SeaWorld San Antonio.

"The medical team will conduct a thorough analysis to learn more about her death, including a comprehensive post-mortem examination, which will yield results in six to eight weeks," according to a release.

There are seven other belugas at the San Antonio park. They are all acting normally, according to officials.

This is not the first beluga whale to die at the park this year. A calf born a month premature died in July.
