Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty could be back, along with Pebbles, Bamm-Bamm and Dino, as Warner Bros. Animation and Brownstone Productions are working to bring a new "Flintstones" series to television, Variety reported.

According to Variety, the project is in its early stages. It will be a prime-time, animated adult comedy series, the website reported. There is no network affiliation yet, the website reported.

The original cartoon series chronicled the everyday lives of the Flintstone and Rubble families in the town of Bedrock, People reported.

The original cartoon series ran for 167 episodes from 1960 to 1966 on ABC.

The original series also led to spin-off TV specials and two live-action movies, People reported. "The New Fred and Barney Show" and "The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show" were two shows that evolved from the original animated series, Variety reported.

Seth MacFarlane also tried a reboot of the series for the Fox network in 2011, but that never got beyond the planning stages, according to Variety.
