Woman released after her 396th arrest

Woman has promsied to change

In the past 35 years Shermain Miles has been arrested an unimaginable 396 times.

Among the reasons for the trouble were offenses ranging from the very minor to alcohol issues and even assault.

Still, Miles says “I’m really not that bad a person, it was the alcohol I was drinking that turned me into a monster.”

While that may be the case the woman has seen the inside of a cell far more often than your average con.

Miles told the Chicago Sun-Times she is going to do everything possible to avoid arrest number 397.

The biggest part of that she said, is staying away from bad influences.

“I’m just not going to go back around there,” the 52 year old said. “I can love them from a distance. Anybody that’s drugging, I can’t be around.”

Chicago florist Rick Flinn is familiar with Miles and he isn’t at all optimistic she’ll be successful.

“That will be nice for winter. She’ll be up there lying on the sidewalk in the snow.”
