Kyle Adam Maraghy is charged with simple assault and is being taken to Mecklenburg County jail.

The disturbing video emerged after Thursday night's game at Bank of America Stadium. It showed what appears to be Maraghy sucker-punching an older fan in the upper deck.

In the video, which was posted on Instagram by user "odubco," who was sitting nearby and witnessed the altercation, a man standing up wearing a black Cam Newton jersey turns around and punches another man in the face.

The man who was punched begins bleeding and remains seated while the attacker continues to punch him repeatedly.

In the video, several other fans try to break up the incident before the attacker and a woman quickly leave.

As the video spread across social media Friday morning, people were calling for the man to be caught and charges to be filed.

WSOC-TV reported earlier that a police report has been filed.

The NFL is working with the Panthers' security, NFL reporter Ian Rapoport reported.

The video contains blood and violence. Viewer discretion is advised.
