Deandre Phifer, 20, of Jasper, and his girlfriend Demarriya Tims, 20, of Weirgate, rode bicycles to meet up with the prospective buyer and sell the stolen laptop but investigators intervened, Beaumont police said.

Investigators confirmed through its serial number the laptop was stolen. The bicycle Phifer rode had also been stolen from the victim, investigators said.

The couple also were named in warrants out of Jasper and were immediately arrested, police said.

Investigators also searched their residence and discovered a litany of other reported stolen items. Two other burglary suspects were also arrested, police said. Investigators believe the group is responsible for multiple burglaries in the area.

Phifer and Tims were arrested and charged with burglary and the Jasper warrants.
