An Indiana student didn't agree with her homework assignment, but instead of outright refusing to turn anything in, she did her research, firing back at her teacher.
The girl was supposed to calculate her body mass index, or BMI. When she did, she was considered obese, WTHR reported.
That's when she put pen to paper, writing an essay about how BMI doesn't account for someone who is athletic, separating muscle from fat.
The student, who was not named, wrote, "I am just beginning to love my body, like I should, and I'm not going to let some outdated calculator and a middle school gym teacher tell me I'm obese, because i'm not.
"My BMI is none of your concern because my body and BMI are perfect and beautiful just the way they are."
The essay was posted on Facebook by a friend of the eighth grader's family.
