The driver was transporting a bus full of students home from Malow Junior High School in Shelby Township when the ice hit the vehicle, WJBK reported.
"I heard the bus driver scream," seventh-grader Sebastian Strzelczyk, who was sitting behind the driver, told WDIV. "I look up and the entire glass was broken."

One parent of a seventh-grader who was riding on the bus praised the driver for maintaining her composure and pulling the vehicle over safely despite being in pain.
"I don't know how you can get hit in the face with ice and then safely pull the bus over, and they were 5 feet from a tree," Kyle Winn told WDIV. "So she's the real hero, to have the mind and the care to go through that and somehow save the bus and pull it to the side of the road with nothing else happening. She's a hero."
The driver and a student were taken to an area hospital after being injured by the broken glass, the television station reported.
"I think it's indicative of the type of people we have here. The bus driver's first concern was to pull the bus over and make sure the kids were safe," Utica Public Schools spokesman Tim McAvoy told WJBK.
