Shaquille O'Neal, Kaká, Johnny Damon visit survivors of Orlando nightclub shooting

Three sports stars joined Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Monday to visit survivors of the Orlando nightclub shooting

Orlando City Soccer Club captain Ricardo Kakà, former Magic superstar Shaquille O' Neal and World Series Champion Johnny Damon accompanied Scott and his wife, first lady Ann Scott, as the governor presented an "Orlando Strong – Governor's Medal of Unity" to the survivors at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

"Ann and I thank these amazing athletes for bringing joy and encouragement to the survivors and their families who are recovering from the terrorist attack that occurred last weekend at Pulse Nightclub," Scott said in a statement. "Johnny Damon, Ricardo Kaká and Shaquille O'Neal join countless individuals and organizations from around the world who have come together to support the Orlando community. I also want to thank the Orlando Regional Medical Center and their amazing staff who have worked around the clock to care for these individuals. We are all inspired by the hope, love and courage displayed by these survivors during their recovery."

Last Sunday, gunman Omar Mateen fatally shot 49 people and injured 53 more inside the nightclub before he died in a gunfight with SWAT officers.

Kaka, Shaq, Damon visit Pulse survivors

Three of Orlando's biggest sports stars spent Monday with survivors of the Pulse shooting. Orlando City captain Ricardo Kakà, former Magic superstar Shaquille O' Neal and World Series Champion Johnny Damon accompanied Florida Governor Rick Scott as he presented an "Orlando Strong - Medal of Unity" to the survivors. #OrlandoUnited
