School bus drags, runs over North Carolina boy who survives in miraculous recovery

A North Carolina school bus driver is facing charges after a serious crash Wednesday afternoon involving a student exiting the bus in Moore County.

The bus door closed on the Zion Baker's backpack, dragging him about 10 feet before he was run over by a back tire, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, WTVD-TV reported.

He suffered bumps and bruises and wrist and elbow injuries, his mother told WTVD. She said she's furious.

"A bus driver is supposed to make sure that her kids are supposed to be safe," Serena Baker said. "I don't send my son on a school bus to get hurt."

The child was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police arrested the bus driver, who was charged with careless and reckless driving.
