Restaurant worker’s act of kindness pays off in big way

The boy just wanted dessert.

Everyone involved received a much sweeter life lesson.

When a small boy approached the counter at Freddy’s, Travis Sattler was there to take his order. The boy wanted frozen custard, but despite clearing out his pockets, he did not have enough to pay for his order.

Sattler decided to pull out his own credit card and pay for the boy's order, according to the KHOU report.

After telling the boy that the custard was paid for, the boy gave the clerk a wide smile, which would have been reward enough for the kind deed.

Much to Sattler’s surprise, as the boy and his mother were leaving the restaurant, the boy handed the clerk a note.

It said, “Thank you for being so nice and paying for my custard. We need more people like you.”

Attached to the note was a $100 bill.

Sattler’s boss is so proud of his employee that the restaurant plans to give the clerk a $100 bonus. The restaurant is also offering the mother and her son gift cards for their act of kindness.

The clerk plans to add the money to his nursing school fund.
