Recall alert: Tyson Foods recalls Weaver frozen chicken patty products

Tyson Foods Inc. announced Thursday it is recalling approximately 39,078 pounds of its Weaver brand of frozen chicken patties that could be contaminated with extraneous materials.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the frozen, fully cooked chicken items were produced Jan. 31, 2019, by the Pine Bluff, Arkansas, company.

According to the USDA, the recalled product has the establishment number "P-13456" printed on the back of the resealable plastic bag with a "used by" date of Jan. 31, 2020. It was shipped nationwide, according to the USDA release.

Information on the packaging includes:

  • 26-ounce resealable plastic bags containing "Weaver Chicken Breast Patties, Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat," with lot codes 0319PBF0617, 0319PBF0618, 0319PBF0619, 0319PBF0620, 0319PBF0621, 0319PBF0622, 0319PBF0623, or 0319PBF0600 represented on the label.

The problem was discovered after Tyson Foods notified FSIS of consumer complaints, the USDA said.

The USDA recommends consumers throw the products away.
