Frito-Lay Recalling Lightly Salted Barbecue Chips Due to Undeclared Milk

Recall alert: Frito-Lay recalling Lightly Salted Barbecue chips due to undeclared milk

Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of 7 3/4 oz. bags of Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips due to the possible presence of undeclared milk. The recall was announced Friday.

According to a company announcement on the Food and Drug Administration website, people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

Affected products have a "guaranteed fresh" date of 27 AUG 2019 and a nine-character manufacturing code that contains the numbers 29 in the second and third characters. The manufacturing code is under the "guaranteed fresh" date. The recalled products have UPC code 28400 63242.

The undeclared milk in the Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips occurred because the chips were "inadvertently filled with another flavor of potato chips, potentially exposing consumers to undeclared milk," according to the company announcement.

The recalled products were sold at stores in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Frito-Lay officials said it has not received reports of illness due to the undeclared milk. No other Lay's or Lay's Lightly Salted products are affected, the announcement said.

Consumers with the affected products can return them to a retailer for a refund or call Frito-Lay Customer Relations at 1-800-352-4477.
