Police: Texas man steals items from Target, tries to sell them in parking lot

Derel O'Neil Largent was arrested Saturday afternoon at a Target parking lot in Wichita Falls.

A Texas man is accused of stealing nearly $400 worth of merchandise from a Target store and trying to sell the items in the store's parking lot, authorities said.

Derel O'Neil Largent, 42, was charged with theft of property under $2,500 with two or more previous convictions, according to Wichita County arrest records.

Wichita Falls police were called to the Target at 4:30 p.m., and store officials told authorities a man had stolen a phone, a Roku device and bedsheets, KAUZ-TV reported. The store's loss prevention officials told police the man was in the store's parking lot, attempting to sell the items, according to the television station.

Wichita Falls police spokesman Sgt. Harold McClure told the Wichita Falls Times Records News officers located Largent in the parking lot of the store. In addition to the phone, Roku device and bedsheets, police found a Dallas Cowboys polo shirt, a watch set and a hand towel, the newspaper reported. The total value of the items was $374.93, police said.

Largent was booked into the Wichita County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
