1 police officer killed, 1 injured in shooting south of Pittsburgh

One of the police officers shot in Canonsburg, Pa. has died, our sister station WPXI-TV reports.

The condition of the other officer injured in the shooting was unknown.

The station reports there are multiple scenes of police activity in Canonsburg as the search for the suspect continues.

Two police officers in Canonsburg, Pa. have been shot, our sister station WPXI-TV reports.

Police have confirmed to the station that the officers were shot, but their conditions were not released. One officer was flown by a medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital, WPXI-TV reports.

An active SWAT situation is ongoing in Canonsburg, and reporters have been told the area is not safe.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were not released.

Canonsburg is located about 20 miles south of downtown Pittsburgh.
