Michigan police said two people are dead after a mother intentionally drove her car into the Kalamazoo River on Monday night, according to multiple reports.
Family members told police the woman had driven the vehicle and her two children into the river, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. Two children who had been in the car escaped, but police recovered the bodies of the mother and one of the children early Tuesday, WXMI reported.
Police are still searching for the body of the other child, Kalamazoo police Capt. Brad Misner told MLive.
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, two girls, who were searching for their uncle, told police the woman had driven the car into the river. Police went to Verburg Park, where a marine team found the woman's submerged car and two bodies in the Kalamazoo River, WWMT reported.
The identities of the victims are being withheld until a positive identification is made and family members are notified, the television station reported.
