Six people, including three children, were killed Sunday morning after a head-on crash on a Georgia interstate, authorities said.

According to Liberty County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Jason Colvin, around 2 a.m., the county's 911 dispatcher issued a "lookout advisory" on a white Lexus traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Interstate 95, WSAV reported. Moments later, deputies received another call about a wreck that occurred on the interstate near the Midway exit, the television station reported.

When deputies arrived, they found two vehicles that had collided head-on, the Coastal Courier reported. According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White, there were no survivors, the newspaper reported.

The Lexus had Florida license plates. Its driver was killed, while two adults and three children riding in an SUV with Virginia plates also were killed, WSAV reported.

The interstate was closed for several hours while deputies worked at the scene, the television station reported.
