"Jurassic World 3" director Colon Trevorrow made the announcement at a screening of "Jurassic World" in Hollywood on Tuesday night, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum will all be joining the cast spearheaded by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and will reprise their roles of Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ian Malcolm, Amblin entertainment announced in a press release.
Dern also was part of the announcement at the event, later posting to Instagram, saying, "Loved joining my buddy, Colin, to announce the return of the original cast of "Jurassic Park" back into the "Jurassic World."
Trevorrow recently released a short film called "Battle of Big Rock" that comes after the events of "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" showing what happens when dinosaurs and humans co-exist in our current world.
"We really wanted this technology, this genetic power, to go open-source at the end of the film. What we're suggesting is not just that these specific animals that we care about that were in captivity were freed, but also that the ability to create these animals has gone a bit wider than our friend Dr. Wu. The open-sourcing of any technology, like nuclear power, that's the scary side for me," Trevorrow told Entertainment Weekly.
"Jurassic World 3" is expected to hit theaters on June 11, 2021. It will be co-produced by Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow, Amblin announced.
