According to WDIV-TV, Genesee County Corrections Deputy Rocky Hensley sprang into action Feb. 10 when 18-month-old Vivian Runnels began having a seizure and stopped breathing at the Great Lakes Crossing food court.
Hensley ran to the girl's aid and realized that she had gone into cardiac arrest, WDIV reported. He quickly performed CPR on the child until she started breathing again, according to the news outlet.
Emergency crews rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, where doctors discovered that she had the flu and ear infections, WEYI-TV reported.
Vivian has since recovered and returned home, the news outlets reported.
