Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday from his indefinite suspension, the team announced.

The lifting of the suspension comes two days after Garrett met with Goodell in New York, The Plain Dealer reported. Garrett was suspended indefinitely after ripping the helmet off Mason Rudolph and hitting the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback over the head with it during the closing seconds in a Nov. 14 game at Cleveland.

According to the Plain Dealer, the suspension was upheld despite Garrett's claim that Rudolph used a racial slur during the fight.

“We welcome Myles back to our organization with open arms,” Andrew Berry, the Browns general manager and executive vice president, said in a news release. “We know he is grateful to be reinstated, eager to put the past behind him and continue to evolve and grow as a leader. We look forward to having his strong positive presence back as a teammate, player and person in our community.”

Garrett, 24, missed the last six regular-season games of the 2019 season as part of his suspension, WOIO reported. The No. 1 overall draft pick in 2017 had 10 sacks before the suspension, ESPN reported.

Garrett took to Twitter, noting he was back.
