New Jersey photographer stages kid version of 'Walking Dead'

A photographer is taking heat online after posting a series of photographs that used children in pivotal scenes of the hit zombie apocalypse show "The Walking Dead"

Alana Hubbard told ABC News that she's a fan of AMC's series about zombies walking the Earth, so she dressed up the kids of the neighborhood, including her own children, and put them in the roles of Daryl Dixon, Rick Grimes and Carol Peletier, as well as zombies.

As for the bloody wounds, those were Photoshopped instead of using actual fake blood and prosthetics.

"We chose not to use real zombie effects because there were young siblings there too. We didn't want the kids to be scared. We wanted them to have a good time," Hubbard told ABC News.

She then shared the photos on Facebook where she has more than 200,000 shares.

Many praised her photographs, but some did show concerns that they glorified violence and weapons.

The "weapons" were all toys, one of the mothers explained, adding that she had purchased the crossbow at Toys R Us shortly before the photo shoot and disengaged features so it didn't work.

"It honestly looked like a modern day cowboys and Indians, just with a zombie twist," Alexandra Velaquez, who is the mother of one of the children in the photo shoot, said.

Velaquez's son played Daryl in the photo shoot.
