James Paul Cogan, 42, of Acworth, faces more than a dozen charges after the incident, which ended in a physical altercation with an officer, according to an arrest warrant.

Authorities said Cogan entered the home in the 1700 block of Poplar Springs Road with no pants on and stole a sweatshirt from a child's bedroom. He then allegedly stole a golf cart worth $6,000 on his way out.

An officer saw him taking off in the golf cart on a nearby street and tried to pull him over, but he refused to stop, police said.

The entire time, he was wearing “absolutely no pants or underwear of any kind ... (Cogan) only had a shirt and socks on. The golf cart had a completely open cab with no doors where any passing motorist could easily see the genitals of (Cogan),” the warrant states.

He eventually wrecked the golf cart and ran into the woods, police said. When an officer struck him with a Taser, Cogan was "completely unresponsive to its effects." An officer had to physically bring him under control in order to arrest him.

Cogan later admitted to using methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol the night before, the warrant states.

He remains in the Cobb County Jail without bond.
