Must see: Teen sinks half-court shot, wins bet with police officer

A teenager in Scituate, Massachusetts, jumped through hoops to get a little extra time on the basketball court Monday night.

Mark Falvey and a dozen of his buddies admit they were being noisy while playing basketball after hours at Scituate High School.

"Things got pretty loud," Falvey told WFXT. He said they were playing music, screaming and having a good time.

A resident in a nearby neighborhood called police around 11:30 p.m. to report the boys were being too loud.

That's when officers Lindsay Bonanno and Drew Kitchen showed up. They had to do their job, but at the same time, they didn't want to be party poopers.

"I decided to have a little fun with them and made a bet with the kids," Bonanno said.

Falvey asked Bonanno if he made a half-court shot, could he and his friends could keep shooting hoops for another half-hour.

"She's like, you're not going to make it, so sure," Falvey said.

Neither Falvey nor the officers expected what happened next.

"I go to half-court, I said a quick prayer, threw it up and it went in," Falvey said.

Falvey sunk the shot. His friends and the officers started cheering.

"I was like, whoa, that just happened," Falvey recalled.

The officers were speechless.

"We were all happy, and then we were like, you got to quiet down, or they're going to call again, but it was good," Kitchen said.

Bonanno said she drove by the high school around 12:10 a.m. while on her way to another call and the boys had already gone home.
