Mazda North American Operations is recalling almost 190,000 cars because of a windshield wiper issue.
The Associated Press reported that the company is recalling Mazda 3 cars due to a defective windshield wiper. Metal deposits can cause the wiper to stick, effecting driver’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration safety recall report filed by Mazda on April 4, 2019, all body styles of the vehicle with years 2016 to 2018 are under the recall.
The number of potentiality involved vehicles is 187,798.
The recall is expected to begin June 3, 2019. Mazda will notify owners, who can take their affected vehicles to a dealer to replace the wiper relay free of charge.
No injuries or deaths have been reported due to the defect.
Mazda 3 owners can contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 and select option 4. They can also contact the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to SaferCar.gov.
