A man is facing a weapons charge after investigators seized at least 1,000 guns from a mansion near the border of Los Angeles' ritzy Holmby Hills and Bel Air neighborhoods, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles Times, an anonymous tip that someone was illegally selling firearms sparked the bust by Los Angeles police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Authorities served a search warrant early Wednesday at the North Beverly Glen Boulevard home, where they found hundreds of guns and "thousands of rounds of ammunition," The Associated Press reported.
"I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years," said LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez.
Police arrested Girard Damien Saenz, 56, on a charge of possessing, selling or manufacturing assault weapons, KCBS-TV reported.
According to property records, Cynthia Beck owns the multimillion-dollar home located less than a mile away from the Playboy Mansion, the Times reported. Beck has three adult children with oil heir Gordon Getty, son of the late billionaire J. Paul Getty, the newspaper said.
"It remains unclear what, if any, connection she had to Wednesday's events," the Times added.
