A 9-month-old Florida boy drowned in a bathtub Friday afternoon while his parents slept, authorities said.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office said the child, identified as Cameron Davis, was found unresponsive at a home in Hobe Sound, WPTV reported.

Authorities said they received a 911 call about 11:30 a.m., reporting the child had been found face down in the tub, TCPalm reported.

According to Sheriff William Snyder, the child's mother gave her son a bath around 11 a.m., then left him alone in the bathtub for at least 20 minutes, WPTV reported. The sheriff said the baby's father was also asleep at the time.

“When she came back, she found the baby, what they described as blue,” Snyder told reporters. “Obviously the child drowned.”

According to Snyder, the 29-year-old mother said she thought she had told the 30-year-old father about the baby in the tub, TCPalm reported.

The Sheriff’s Office said the couple’s two other children, each under 4 years old, were in the home, at the time their sibling drowned, the website reported.

"Obviously a 9-month-old alone in a bathtub could be prevented," Snyder told WPTV. "It's very suspicious."
