A Kentucky mom was fatally shot in front of her young son on Mother's Day.
According to Louisville's WLKY and WHAS, Angelina Pressley, 27, was heading home to her Okolona apartment after a Kentucky Derby party early Sunday when a man fired multiple shots at her in the parking lot, then fled.
Police have not made any arrests or named any suspects, WHAS reports. Pressley's 8-year-old son was not able to give police enough information to release a description of the killer, according to WLKY.
"He made the comment that his favorite thing in the world to do was to spend time with his mother, and he was exceptionally excited that night because he had bought her a necklace that he planned to give her on Mother's Day," Detective Todd Kessinger of the Louisville Metro Police Department told WHAS. "Unfortunately, somebody came and shot her right in front of him, and he never had the opportunity to give her that necklace."
Neighbors were shocked when they learned the news.
"It saddens me now that some child is going to be motherless because somebody was upset about who knows what," Wilma Chaddic told WHAS. "It had to be so insignificant, especially with it being Mother's Day. How do you shoot somebody on Mother's Day?"
