Lance C. Breeding, 27, of Carthage, pleaded guilty to a Class D felony count of child abuse. He had been accused of a Class B felony count of child abuse, which carried a sentence of up to 15 years, the newspaper reported.

According to court documents,Breeding became angry with his daughter Jan. 11 when she did not clean her room, the Globe reported. Breeding either threw or pushed the child into a dresser in her bedroom, the newspaper reported.

The girl's mother, Mystic Foresee, told police that Breeding admitted to grabbing his daughter by the arm and throwing her into the dresser.

The child was taken to a hospital and was diagnosed with a broken femur, the Globe reported. Doctors also observed extensive bruising on the girl's lower back, buttocks and upper leg. They reported the incident as suspected child abuse, the newspaper reported.

According to investigators, Breeding said he came home from work and learned from Foresee that their daughter had been misbehaving and would not clean her room. He said he spanked the girl "harder than he should have" and sent her to her bedroom to clean it.

When he checked later and the room still had not been cleaned, Breeding said he pushed the girl into her dresser, according to investigators.
