Mattress store that spoofed 9/11 closes indefinitely following backlash

San Antonio's Miracle Mattress posted on their Facebook page Friday that they will be closing their store indefinitely following fallout from an online ad promoting a 9/11 anniversary sale.

The video shows two men asking a woman about a "Twin Towers" sale. She opens her arms, pushing both men backward into two stacks of mattresses, knocking them over. She says: "We'll never forget."

According to the Associated Press, Miracle Mattress owner Mike Bonanno apologized, saying the online ad was produced without his knowledge by employees in San Antonio. Friday, Bonanno released a statement on their Facebook page announcing they would be closed indefinitely while assessing plans on how they will move forward.

The statement indicates that an announcement will be delivered next week to discuss accountability within the company. Miracle Mattress also says in the letter that it will be sharing how it plans to help support for 9/11 Memorial and victims funds.

Earlier this week, a Walmart in Florida was received social media backlash for a display of Coke cans stacked to look like the World Trade Center.

That display, made from packages of Coke Zero, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Dasani water and Fanta, depicted the twin towers in front of a Walmart store banner that read, "We will never forget."

The phrase was against an old image of the New York skyline, which included the World Trade towers before the attack.
