The maze themes have featured uplifting messages and typically attract 10,000 people. In the past, the maze designs have had anti-bullying, literacy promotion and renewable energy themes carved out of the corn field.
A company in Utah helped come up with the Mario Bros. design, according to ABC News. It usually takes the Stoughtons a couple of weeks to prepare the field.
Deb Stoughton decided the theme this year.
"She just liked the idea of the Mario brothers because everybody pretty much knows what they are and it'd be fun for the kids to see," Tim Stoughton told ABC News.
The maze is opened Sept. 17 to Oct. 31.
