A New Jersey man is accused of wearing a wig and makeup while robbing a bank last week, authorities said Monday.

Michael Bennett, 31, of Toms River, was charged with robbery, Jillian Messina, a spokeswoman for the Toms River Police Department, told the Asbury Park Press. He is being held at the Ocean City Jail, NJ.com reported.

According to police, Bennett handed a note to a teller at First Financial Credit Union in Toms River and left with an undisclosed amount of money, the website reported.

Police released surveillance photos, showing the suspect wearing white makeup and a dark-colored wig with blonde extensions, the Press reported. He was also seen carrying a backpack style-type bag with a dark hat, a dark shirt, gray sweatpants and dark sneakers, the newspaper reported.

Messina said people who shared and responded to the department's social media posts helped police find Bennett, the Press reported.
