The shooting happened just before midnight at Blue Martini, a nightclub in The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, WTVJ reported.

Update 2:55 p.m. EDT May 9: Police identified the man killed in the shooting as Arnold Person, a Miami man who would have turned 44 on Thursday, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The newspaper noted that while early reports indicted a suspect was taken into custody after Wednesday’s shooting, no one had been charged as of Thursday afternoon.
Two other people were also injured in the shooting. Officials did not immediately identify the other victims.
Original report: According to CNN, Fort Lauderdale police arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting, which occurred about 11:51 p.m. Wednesday in the Blue Martini bar at the Galleria mall. Authorities have not released the suspect's name.
Three people were shot in the incident, which followed "an altercation inside the establishment," police said. One victim died at the scene, while the others were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, The Associated Press reported. One of the injured is in critical condition, a police spokeswoman told CNN.
No further information was immediately available.
