A Kentucky couple is behind bars after authorities found their 2-year-old daughter wandering alone in the road, officials said.

According to WKYT and WYMT, Patsy Murley, 21, and Robert Allen Williams, 26, of Knox County, were arrested on wanton endangerment charges Friday after authorities rescued the toddler, who was wearing nothing but a diaper as temperatures dipped to 41 degrees. Emergency responders took the child to a nearby hospital for treatment, the outlets reported.

Sheriff's deputies said a drug test revealed that both Murley and Williams, who said they had been sleeping when the baby wandered off, had THC in their systems, WYMT reported.

The toddler and another child are now in the care of a relative, officials said.
