Clarkson, 37, underwent the surgery early Thursday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CNN reported. She had just finished hosting the Billboard Music Awards for the second year in a row.
Clarkson confirmed the surgery in a tweet, saying, “Not gonna lie.... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain 😬 BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix 🤣 #TheShowMustGoOn 💁🏼♀️”

The tweet was in response to a tweet from BuzzFeed reporter Jarret Wieselman, who said Clarkson "flawlessly hosted an award show and sang two songs without showing any sign of discomfort."
Clarkson will remain busy in the days after her surgery -- She's scheduled to film an episode of "The Voice" on Monday, People Magazine reported.
