Infant daughter of slain Texas woman Heidi Broussard reunited with family

The infant daughter of slain Austin resident Heidi Broussard has been reunited with her father more than a week after she and her mother vanished, according to multiple reports.

Margot Carey reunited with her father Monday night, according to KPRC. She and her 33-year-old mother had been reported missing Dec. 12.

Police said Margot was 3 weeks old when she disappeared. Authorities found her alive in a home in Harris County last week, KTRK-TV reported. Authorities found Broussard dead in the trunk of a car parked on the property, KPRC reported.

Officials with Child Protective Services took custody of the baby after she was found Friday. In a statement obtained by KPRC, officials with CPS confirmed they were no longer seeking temporary custody of the child.

Ty Carey, Margot's grandfather, told the news station he was grateful authorities decided to put her "back where she belongs -- with her family."

"A child needs to be -- especially at that age -- needs (the) voices and smells of familiarity," he said.

Authorities have arrested a 33-year-old woman once described by Broussard as her "best friend" on charges believed to be connected to the Texas mother's disappearance, according to the Austin American-Stateman. Magen Rose Fieramusca is facing two counts of kidnapping and one count of tampering with a corpse.

Officials told the American-Stateman that Fieramusca faked a pregnancy concurrent to Broussard's and kidnapped her and her daughter after Margot's birth. Authorities have not officially identified Fieramusca as a suspect in Broussard's death.
