Two San Antonio, Texas high school football players have been suspended after being accused of intentionally tackling a referee during a game and then piling on top of him.
According to KTLA, the incident happened on Friday during a game between John Jay and Marble Falls high schools. A spokesperson for the Northside Independent School District calls the video that captured the attack 'extremely disturbing.'
The footage shows one player from John Jay, Victor Rojas who was wearing a number 12 jersey, charging toward the back of the referee, identified as Robert Watts, and knocking him to the ground. Moments later the video shows, number 81 Michael Moreno falling on top of him.
John Jay coach Gary Gutierrez apologized after the game saying "I've coached 14 years and I've never seen anything like it."
Two John Jay players had already been ejected from the field during two earlier plays. According to the Daily Mail, the referee is "very upset" by what happened and could take legal action.
