According to police, Thomas was driving a U-Haul truck that waited outside as three men broke into a convenience store, KTRK reported. Authorities said the men used bolt cutters to break into the store, and surveillance video shows them carrying beer, T-shirts and smoke paraphernalia into the U-Haul, the television station reported.
An off-duty officer who saw the alleged theft called police, and the truck left the scene with officers in pursuit, KTRK reported.
"The chase was 25 miles and lasted 26 minutes," a prosecutor said, according to the news release.
According to the release, one of the suspects jumped out of the truck and was arrested by police. The second suspect fell as he held on to a side mirror on the passenger's side of the truck.
“He fell off and this caused the complainant to fall and become run over by the passenger side rear tires, resulting in the death of the complainant,” the prosecutor said.
Thomas was being held on $75,000 bond for each charge, KTRK reported. She will be back in court Thursday.
