The victim told police the men, who appeared to be between 15 and 20 years old, claimed they had a gun but never produced one. Georgia Tech reported the robbery in a campus-wide safety alert.
According to campus police, the student was approached around 5:30 a.m. The duo allegedly took the victim’s cellphone and marched him to a BP gas station, where they forced him to withdraw cash.
Police have released surveillance photos of the two men taken from the BP in an effort to identify them.
Students are encouraged to walk in groups and stick to well-lit areas, Georgia Tech officials said in the alert. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to campus police. The school also offers overnight campus transportation or safety escorts through its police department.
