Elyse Purefoy, 17, was at Arabia Mountain High School in DeKalb County when she collapsed on the track during morning training, WSB-TV reported.
She died later at a local hospital, the news station reported, but it’s unclear why.
Her father, Hank Purefoy, told WSB that his daughter would have been a senior this fall.

School district officials issued a statement on Purefoy’s death: “The entire DeKalb County School District community, and especially the Arabia Mountain High School family, mourns the passing of a member of the school’s dance team. Our hearts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”
The family created a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her funeral. The fundraising goal is $5,000.
