Florida man chews off fingertip skin to thwart police

A Florida man went to extreme lengths to conceal his identity during a traffic stop in Ohio.

How extreme? He chewed off the skin on his fingertips to avoid identification while in the back of a police car, police say.

According to the website AL.com, Tallmadge, Ohio, police say Kirk Kelly, 24, was arrested and charged with falsification and tampering with evidence.

When Kelly was pulled over at 3 a.m. Feb. 21, first gave officers false IDs. After Kelly told officers that he was from Tampa, officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were able to send photos of Kelly to Tallmadge police. Thanks to the photos, officers were able to identify Kelly by his distinctive tattoos, AL.com reports.
