Deputy Robert Pounds, of the Collier County Sheriff's Office, pulled over a speeder who was traveling 63 mph in a 45 mph zone in Naples around 4:30 a.m., WFTX reported.

According to the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Pounds realized when he stopped the vehicle that a woman inside was in labor and about to give birth. Pounds quickly called for paramedics and backup, then grabbed a blanket and delivered a baby girl, WINK-TV reported.

When paramedics arrived they cut the baby's umbilical cord and checked out both the mother and her child before transporting them to an area hospital, WFTX reported.

Both were doing well, the television station reported.

Deputy David Drucks snapped a photo with Pounds and the elated -- and relieved -- father and posted it on Facebook.
