Firefighter walks 50 miles in full gear to support boy with cancer

The actions of a Greensboro, North Carolina, firefighter to help a boy with cancer have gone viral.

Firefighter Tim Gibbs walked 50 miles from Greensboro to Duke University Medical Center.

He's raising awareness for Morgan Nolen, 8, who's battling a rare nerve cancer. Nolen is getting stem cell treatments at Duke.

Gibbs arrived in Durham after walking three days in his full gear.

Morgan holds a special place in Gibb's heart because he is the son of a fire captain.

"We figured if this boy can fight for his life every day, we can suck it up for about four from Greensboro, walking the streets,” Gibbs said.

Gibbs is raising awareness for an Oct. 13 fundraiser for Morgan.

September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
