Fight between construction workers along Florida’s Turnpike leads to fatal stabbing, deputies say

Deputies said they have arrested a man wanted for allegedly stabbing his 28-year-old employer at a construction site along Florida’s Turnpike.

Deputies say 28-year-old Mason Toney fled the area after stabbing the man. The Sheriff's Office said they captured Toney around 6:20 p.m.

Deputies said they were called shortly before 10:45 a.m. to the stabbing at Exit 254, near South Orange Blossom Trail and West Taft Vineland Road.

Deputies said William Steven Knight, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene and the man who stabbed him fled the scene.

Deputies said the pair knew one another, but they did not specify how they knew one another.

Troopers said two construction workers got into a fight, which escalated into a stabbing.
