Roderick Jabri Smith was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

An Ohio State football fan visiting Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl had a harrowing episode after Saturday night’s game. The 32-year-old man, from San Diego, said he was carjacked, taken to an ATM to withdraw money and shot, authorities said.

The man was later seen on a doorbell camera pleading for help, KNXV reported.

Phoenix police arrested Roderick Jabri Smith, 18, and two minors -- a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old -- the television station reported. Smith was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to court documents.

The incident began early Sunday after the victim, named Anthony, said he had an argument with his girlfriend and went to sleep in his car, located in an apartment complex parking lot, ABC News reported.

According to court documents, a man wearing a ski mask knocked on the car window and told the victim he was parked in his assigned parking spot. When the victim rolled down his window slightly, the masked man pointed a pistol at him and told him to get out of the car, KNXV reported.

Two other men, also wearing masks, got into the car and drove the victim to an ATM, forcing him to withdraw money, ABC News reported.

Smith later told police he took out $300 to $600 in cash, according to a police report.

Anthony was driven to an area in Peoria and was told to walk away backward, KNXV reported. When one of the men pointed a gun at him, Anthony turned and ran, the television station reported.

Anthony said he heard several gunshots and felt one hit his lower back, according to court documents.

"It sounded like five or six (gunshots)," Sandy Rees, a nearby resident, told KNXV. "Then I heard arguing and two more shots."

Anthony was still wearing his Ohio State sweatshirt when he walked up to a Peoria fireman’s home and rang the doorbell, the television station reported.

“It’s Anthony. I’ve been shot," the victim said.

After pleading for help, the victim convinced the fireman to call 911. First responders arrived and took the man to an area hospital, where he had surgery, according to court documents.

Smith and the two minors were arrested shortly after the incident, police said.

Smith told police he was in the driver's seat of the stolen car looking straight ahead when he heard several gunshots, according to court documents. He is due in court Monday for a status conference and Jan. 9 for a preliminary court hearing, according to ABC News.
