Family gives away dog that saved them from fire

Snickers, a 1-year-old shar pei mix, saved her family last August.

A fire broke out in their RV, and she woke up a family member, who then woke up the rest of the family.

But when the family moved and couldn't keep her, they gave her away.

Glen Rose Animal Shelter shared photos of Snickers and told her story on their Facebook page.

"She's a brave girl that saved her family, and I don't understand how nobody would want a dog like that," Animal Control Officer Loretta Adams told CBS11. "She could potentially save your life."

Interest swelled, and by Friday afternoon, Snickers was adopted, according to an update by the animal shelter and KXAN.

Had she not been adopted, she would have been euthanized.
