All Flint Community Schools water fountains will be replaced with water stations and water filtration systems through Elon Musk’s foundation, the school district said on Thursday.
The donations come after Musk’s July announcement that he would reach out to Flint officials about what their water needs are, mlive reported.
“(Thanks) for investing in the health/future (and) well-being (of) FCS Students,” the district said in a tweet. “Looking forward to our burgeoning partnership! More to come!”
The district did not offer further comment, mlive reported.
“You’re most welcome,” Musk replied. “Hope to do more to help in the future.”
Musk has also previously asked residents to send in their lead test results.
“(Let’s) organize a weekend in Flint to add filters to those houses with issues and hopefully fix the perception of those that are actually good," Musk had said.
The Musk Foundation was established in 2002 and typically offers grants in human space exploration, pediatric medical research and science and engineering education.
