Domestic dispute leads to officer-involved shooting at Dallas Love Field Airport

Shots were fired Friday at Dallas Love Field Airport after a man engaged in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend allegedly lunged at officers while he had rocks in his hands.

According to KDFW, the incident took place near the baggage claim area.

Shawn Nicholas Diamond, 29, of Maryland, flew to Dallas earlier this week to see his ex-girlfriend. He was arrested for criminal mischief Tuesday and released from jail Friday, KXAS reported. He, along with his ex-girlfriend, arrived at the airport shortly after his release from jail. KTVT reports that the woman claims the man became angry and hit her on the way to the airport.

When the woman began removing luggage from the car, Diamond took a traffic cone and broke one of the car's windows, then picked up large landscaping rocks and broke out more car windows. When police ordered him to stop, he allegedly lunged at officers. He was shot multiple times but refused to stay down, so he was shot again.

Police say Diamond is in stable condition. The woman was not injured.

Dramatic video purported to be from the scene was posted on Instagram.

The person who shot the video, Bryan Armstrong, claims that the suspect had a rock in his hand and refused to cooperate with officers, which led to the shooting. According to police, the incident began as a domestic violence situation. The suspect was taken to the hospital alive, but police were not able to provide an update on his condition.
