Couple celebrates 70th anniversary with photo shoot

When high school sweethearts Ferris and Margaret Romaire were married on Nov. 24, 1946 in Morgan City, Louisiana, Frankie Carle and His Orchestra was enjoying an eight-week run at the top of the music charts with "Rumors Are Flying."

It was a simple ceremony, a 15-minute service and reception at the home of Margaret's parents that took place six months after Ferris returned home from military service. But no one had a camera, so the happy couple had no picture memories from that happy day.

Seventy years later, the Romaires finally got their wedding album, and they did it with a flourish.
Their granddaughter, Amanda Kleckley, set up a photo shoot through Lara Carter Photography. On Oct. 12 in Pearland, Texas, 90-year-old Ferris donned a tuxedo while 89-year-old Margaret wore a lavender gown and a veil. The couple shared champagne, hugged and had a wonderful time.
“You can see the love between them in the way they interacted with each other and laughed together as we would go from the different poses,” Lara Carter told The Huffington Post. “They are a beautiful example of what marriage is meant to be.”

The couple’s secret to longevity?

Carter told the Huffington Post that Ferris' philosophy "giving each other space and respecting one another" and also "admitting when you are wrong, except that Margaret is never wrong!"

"If you ask Margaret she would say, 'saying you're sorry, except that Ferris has a hard time doing that,'" Carter told the Huffington Post. "If a problem came up they solved it. It was more important to compromise and move on than to be right. Two was always better than one."

By the way, the No. 1 song for the year in 1946 was “Prisoner of Love,” by Perry Como.
Ferris and Margaret are still prisoners of love, but they’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

Y'all this is so exciting for so many reasons!! Huffington post contacted me about using some photos I captured for this...
